Elvis Presley rilascia la sua prima intervista, che viene pubblicata oggi sul giornale di Memphis, "The Memphis Press-Scimitar".Il giornalista Edwin Howard ha parlato con Elvis il giorno prima, ad un pranzo a cui ha preso parte anche Marion Keisker, segretaria di Sam Phillips alla Sun Records.
Il giornalista, tra le altre cose, scrive: "Il ragazzo ha qualcosa che sembra fare presa su chiunque. E' famoso in ugual modo nei programmi Pop, Folk e Race".
28 LUGLIO 1955:
Elvis Presley si esibisce al Jacksonville Baseball Park – rinominato Wolfson Park - di Jacksonville, in Florida, alle ore 20.15.Lo notorietà di Elvis Presley stava crescendo rapidamente in Florida mentre il tour si spostava a Jacksonville.
Elvis inserisce "Juanita" di Rufus Thomas nel suo repertorio dal vivo.
Due nuovi promotori, il disc jockey WQIK Marshall Rowland e Mea Boren Axton, avevano portato lo spettacolo al parco di baseball della lega minore di Jacksonville. Osservavano nervosamente la grande folla che si aggirava intorno al piccolo stadio. Era un luogo imbarazzante per gli artisti, che si vestivano nella clubhouse di baseball ed entravano sul palco attraverso la panchina.
Jimmy Rogers Snow, figlio di Hank Snow, racconta: "Ricordo le ragazze a Jacksonville. Le ricordo che ci inseguivano attraverso il campo di football e dovevamo correre nei bagni per salvarci la pelle".
Marty Robbins dice: ''Dicono che la prima volta che Elvis fu assalito fu a Jacksonville. Lo ricordo bene, perché non potevo credere che stesse succedendo. Lo hanno inseguito nello spogliatoio e lui era in cima alle docce cercando di allontanarsi dalle persone, ragazzi e ragazze allo stesso modo. Stavano cercando di afferrare una scarpa o altro. Ne stavo ottenendo un grande vantaggio. Nessuno mi aveva notato. Sono rimasto lì a ridere. Ho capito allora che sarebbe diventato grande, perché le persone non sapevano nemmeno chi fosse Elvis Presley, e si comportavano così".

Il singolo "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" arriva alla posizione 3 nella classifica americana.
