GRAMMY AWARDS
Come si legge in questa pagina, Elvis Presley ha raggiunto traguardi degni di tutto rispetto con moltissimi dei suoi dischi, siano essi album o singoli.
Ma i Grammy Awards sono premi molto più prestigiosi dei dischi d'oro o di platino!
La prima cerimonia per la consegna di questi premi avvenne nel 1959 ed Elvis entrò nelle nomination con la canzone "A Fool Such As I" come Disco dell'Anno e con la canzone "A Big Hunk O' Love" nelle categorie Best Performance e Best Rhythm and Blues Performance.
Anche nel 1960 non mancarono le nomination:
"Are You Lonesome Tonight?" entrò nella categoria Disco dell'Anno, Best Vocal Performance Single Record, Best Performance Pop by a Single Artist. Anche le canzoni "Blue Hawaii" e "G.I. Blues" arrivarono alla soglia della vittoria.
Si è dovuto attendere fino al 1967 per poter raggiungere il premio, il primo GRAMMY AWARDS per Elvis Presley: vinto con l'album gospel "How Great Thou Art" nella categoria Sacred Performance.
Nel 1968 arrivò un'altra nomination, sempre nella categoria Sacred Performance, per l'album gospel "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Ma nel 1972 arrivò un'altra vittoria, e ancora per un album gospel!
L'album "He Touched Me" vinse nella categoria Best Inspirational Performance.
Nel 1974 vinse il terzo Grammy Awards nella medesima categoria, per la canzone "How Great Thou Art", registrata live durante il concerto a Memphis.
